I read in the mission history under mission informationthe line about the Plovdiv district being created, expanding the mission to two. Shortly before President Warner left in 1994, Sofia was split into two, Vitosha (liulin, Nadezhda, Hadji I & II) and Heymus (Center, Krasno Selo, Mladost I & II). Plovdiv was still its own branch. They were dropped back into one I believe in 1996, as when I returned in '97, Sofia was again one district.

Sofia is still one district, although it includes the Pernik branch as well.  In June 2006 the district was reorganized and two new branches were created.  The branches are now: Mladost, Center, Lyulin, Hadji Dimitur, and Geo Milev.  Lyuin recently got their own building, and Center and Mladost should be getting their own buildings soon.  Hadji Dimitur and Geo Milev will continue to meet in the building on Marin Drinov where the mission home is located.

Feel free to drop in.

(Shameless Plug: Geo Milev branch rocks!)

I'm sure it's long gone.  Until June 2006, all branches in Sofia met in one building and it had been that way for quite some time from what I understand.

When I was in Nadejda in 2000 (which included Lyulin and Nadejda) we still shared the building on Tsar Boris III by the old mission home. It was the one with Pres. Stephen's brilliant idea for keeping us warm: submarine heaters. When I was there, mushrooms were overtaking the building  and despite numerous cleanings, we moved out sometime in 2002 so that all branches were at Marin Drinov. Seriously, submarine heaters don't warm buildings in the dead of winter.

Submarine heaters? You mean the heated floors?

No, I was talking about the wood heaters that were on the walls. They would only heat you when pressing up against it while teaching Enlgish because they were conveniently next to the blackboards.
