This new site is great. I used the old site quite frequently. Great to be able to communicate with people who have the same interests as me. From time to time I enjoy reminiscing on my time spent in Bulgaria through music. Occasionally for laughs and memory sake I will watch videos of Bulgarian Music on You Tube. For example, Slavi Trifonov has a new video called "Neshto Lichno". If you haven't seen it, check it out. Is anyone aware of a good site to download Bulgarian music in MP3 format? Itunes has no such thing and I have not been able to find a good website. Thanks.

There might be some restrictions on which ip addresses (restricted by country) can access this stuff, but there are some Bulgarian torrent trackers: www.arenabg.comand www.zamunda.netYou can download all sorts of Bulgarian Television, movies with BG subtitles and some with Bulgarian Audio, in addition to Bulgarian mp3s (one of them had a collection of the 500 greatest Bulgarian songs) and videos. Just be careful of the x-rated trash that also gets posted on there. It's easy enough to filter out, but you gotta watch where you click. Both require registration to use. Good luck.

Thanks for the links, Blindspot. I'm interested in checking them out too. Like Toblerone, I also enjoy listening to Bulgarian music and remembering the mission. I've got a collection of MP3s of familiar songs that I "overheard" during my mission. But I would also enjoy listening to more recent Bulgarian music. From time to time, I'll listen to some Bulgarian internet radio stations using the Winamp music player, but I find that most of these tend to play a lot of non-Bulgarian music. If anyone knows of a good Bulgarian radio station that plays mostly Bulgarian music, I'd like to know.

Blindspot, can I download all the Zamunda skits from zamunda.net? I used to memorize those songs and it really helped my language.

As for Bulgarian radio that actually plays Bulgarian music...eto, BG radio: http://www.bgradio.net/I also like this site: http://www.bulgarvoice.com/index.cfmI don't think you can download the songs, but you can listen all that you like, and they have a pretty good variety.

Thanks, Faye, for the links. I've been listening to the BG Radio station and it's exactly what I've been looking for! Also, I've found a site that appears to have a pretty good list of the various Bulgarian radio stations that you can listen to online, along with the type of music that they play ( http://www.predavatel.com/online/bg_net.htm) I'll be checking out some of them on the list and I'll let you guys know if I find any good ones.

Have you watched Bulgarian Idol (I think they actually call it "Music Idol") on You Tube? It's better than the US version, and the "Simon" judge is just so funny, it's great, so great!

I occasionally listen to BG Radio online ( http://www.bgradio.net/). It's a great way to hear classic Bulgarian hits and discover new Bulgarian songs that I like. I thought I'd share a few songs that I've recently discovered that I like: (What a coincidence they're all by Графа!) What are your favorite Bulgarian songs? Have you discovered any new music recently that you really like? Feel free to reply to this topic and share what you like. (Bonus points if you can provide a link to the song... try searching Google or YouTube.) I'll try and post more songs as I discover them.

Here are some more songs that I've been enjoying lately: I thought I'd also share some cool tips I've discovered for downloading Bulgarian music. Search YouTube for an artist or song title. Copy the page URL of the video and use Media Converter to convert the video into an MP3 which you can download. VBox7 (a Bulgarian version of YouTube) also seems to have a lot of Bulgarian music videos. Since Media Converter doesn't recognize VBox7 URLs, you'll have to download the Flash video to your computer using something like Orbit Downloader, then upload the .flv file to Media Converter for conversion into MP3 format.
